Prepare waffles as directed (If you are making from scratch, get those started).
Meanwhile, cut the chicken into bite-sized pieces.
Heat the oil in a medium skillet over medium heat.
Place the flour in one bowl, eggs in another bowl, and breadcrumbs in a third bowl.
Dredge each piece of chicken in the flour, eggs, breadcrumbs, then back into the egg, and into the breadcrumbs once more.
Carefully place the chicken in the warm oil.
Turn after about 3-5 minutes, when it’s golden-brown on the bottom.
Cook another 3-5 minutes on the other side.
Remove from the pan and place on a wire rack.
Place a waffle on a serving plate and top with chicken.
Drizzle with syrup and serve warm.
Notes
Add Heat: Kick up the heat with a little hot sauce in the chicken breading.
Mini: Make mini chicken and waffles, use a toothpick to hold them together, and use as a creative appetizer.
Variation tip: Add a layer of crispy bacon to the dish.
Sandwich: Create a sandwich with the chicken nestled in-between the waffles.
Alternate cooking method tip: Cook the chicken in the air fryer for a crispy but less calorie version of this recipe. Cook at 350 for about 10 minutes. Check the chicken with a meat thermometer to verify the chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165 degrees.
